GastronomicGallivant: HungarianStyle Stuffed Peppers

Authentic version of this dish uses raw meat and raw rice. So the sauce must be thin as water to cook both the meat and rice.I didn't have authentic Hungarian peppers handy at the time of making this dish.Didn't have much time too cause I was getting ready for my vacation to Florida. So I wanted to use up the leftover mini-peppers and a couple of grilled turkey patties. I made up this recipe on the fly.
The photos alone for this post has been sitting in my draft for 2 months now. I have to say I don't remember the exact measurements. Sorry. Serve this with a big dollop of sour cream as the Hungarians do.
Ingredients:
  • 10-12 #s Mini Peppers
  • 1/2 Cup Cooked Rice
  • 2 Grilled Turkey Patty
  • 1/4 Tsp Cracked Pepper
  • 1/2 Tsp Paprika
  • 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • Salt as needed
For the Sauce:
  • 1/4 Tsp Cracked Pepper
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 3 Tbsp Tomato Paste
  • Salt as needed
Procedure:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Mix the crumbled burgers, cooked rice olive oil, cracked pepper and salt
  • Divide the mixture evenly and stuff into the peppers.
  • Tomato Paste Sauce: Mix the tomato paste with water, olive oil, 1/2 a tsp of cracked pepper, Paprika and make a sauce.
  • Pour the prepared sauce into an oven-proof dish and spread it evenly.
  • Arrange the stuffed peppers on the top of the tomato paste
  • Bake at 350 degrees F for 18-20 minutes.
  • Serve warm
Enjoy!
